Hi Everybody!  Ryan has agreed to let me post (a short post!) today because I’m in a shout-it-from-the-rooftops kind of mood about an exciting new product launch here at Belcam.  You guys might remember me as the Beauty Tools Brand Manager (or the gal who pesters Ryan until he lets me post).  🙂  ANYWAY…..

Here’s my exciting news!  We all know how hot tattoo art is and we can find it on just about any product these days.  But our 4 NEW Slant Tip Tweezers are the first metal grooming tools to feature this kind of art.

We are so, so lucky to have a very talented artist on our staff and when I told her our idea for putting some original tattoo art on tweezers, she came through with the most amazing designs.  Of course, we decided that we’d use high quality stainless steel tweezers from Italy as a base for the art.  They feature extra fine tips – the kind that grab the hair every time, not cut it off at the base.  They’re great for shaping eyebrows and for general tweezing, but best of all, they’re just SO COOL to look at.  I pulled one out in front of my friends the other day and they totally freaked out – and these girls aren’t hard core tattoo fans or anything.  Well, one might be.  😉

I promised this would be short ,so I’ll stop myself and just say that we’re all REALLY excited here and hope you all like the tweezers too.  Check them out below and if you want to buy some, you can get them at our online shop

PS  My boss is letting me give a dollar off these tweezers when you use promo code “KIMROCKS” at checkout.  No, just kidding, you don’t need a promo code – we’re automatically giving everyone $1.00 Off.  But if you really want to type Kim Rocks! you can leave a comment to that effect below!  🙂

Bath Therapy dee-lish Gingerbread 3-in-1 Body Wash, Bubble Bath, and Shampoo

Bath Therapy dee-lish Gingerbread 3-in-1 Body Wash, Bubble Bath, and Shampoo

If you’re like me and LOVE foaming hand soap you’re sure to have a foaming soap pump dispenser around (yes, it’s different than other pumps). You can take any kind of body wash or liquid soap, water it down and put it in this dispenser and it will come out as foam (see Foaming Hand Soap). Just make sure you dilute it about 3 parts soap to 7 parts water, about 1/4 soap and the rest water. Mix it up well, warmer water works best for this. Each dispenser is different so you may have to try it out and add more water.

Recently I brought home some of our new Dee-Lish Holiday Scent 3-in-1 Body Wash, Bubble Bath and Shampoo to try out, and I just love the scent, Gingerbread! Suddenly I got the bright idea to mix up some for foaming hand soap in the house! I tried it and it’s so great. It really helps add a little holiday cheer! Every time somebody washes their hands the smell of fresh gingerbread radiates through the room. So much fun! The Bath Therapy Dee-Lish Holiday Scents are really great as a 3-in-1 Body Wash, Bubble Bath and Shampoo, and also come in Apple Pie scent, and Orange Truffle! You could have a different scent for each sink in the house! They’re also on sale on our new website right now for just $3.99 for a 500 mL bottle. Check it out, and happy holidays!

Neil Yard's Remedies

Neil Yard's Remedies

Something to look for in May is Neil Yard’s Remedies, a skin and body care line serving different skin types. Neil Yard is launching the Nourishing Orange Flower facial skin care collection. With orange flower, or neroli oil, the collection balances the skin’s moisture levels. The result is skin that looks and feels more balanced and evenly toned. The collection consists of a facial wash, face polish, daily moisturizer, night cream and facial mask. Also coming from Neil Yard’s is Rehydrating Rose facial skin care. This collection consists of a facial wash, facial polish, and facial moisturizer, all design for dehydrated facial skin. Neil Yard’s Remedies is a London-based company, but has a lot of distribution in the US.

I came across some interesting new cosmetics from Sally Hansen, a variety of nail color products.

nail-artNail Art Pens apply a fast drying color over your existing nail color for stylized looks. They are water-based, so if you make a mistake you can remove it with a moist cotton swab, without effecting the underlying nail color. They come in 8 shades and retail for $7.95.

The Nail Art Pens might be more interesting to a 14 year old girl, but there are more sophisticated uses for the pens. The French Manicure Pen Kit for example, features a fine tip pen that makes it easy to do a French manicure or pedicure, with more control so you can make a fine line. It retails for $14.95. There’s also the Quick Care Nail Treatment Pens, that are great for a little clean-up or cuticle treatment.

Finally there’s Insta-Dri, an all new fast drying nail color. They claim it can be applied in seconds, dry in less than a minute, and still lasts long.

So many exciting new items for you nails. Has anyone tried these yet? What do you think?

You may have noticed the quirky new brand called Yes To Carrots in a personal care section of your pharmacy. Yes To Carrots, of Yes To Inc., is one of the fastest growing body care brands on the market. Yes To started out in 2007, headquartered in San Francisco, with six products in sixteen stores, and now has moved on to more than forty products in twenty thousand stores! They launched in May 2007 at Walgreens, and are now joining forces with Sephora Europe!

So what’s all the fuss about? How about a complete line of products without those nasty parabens that we still are uncertain about. Parabens are found in many common body care products, and may cause cancer. So it’s a pretty good idea to just steer clear of parabens. In addition, Yes To products have twenty six purifying and moisturizing minerals harvested from the Dead Sea! Combine this with fresh fruits and veggies and you get a complete family of anti-oxidant rich products. And it doesn’t stop at carrots. Now they offer Yes To Tomatoes, and Yes To Cucumbers as well.

Photo by Andrew Dyer via FlickrThis coming March, Sephora will begin selling Zirh Natural. Zihr, a brand that specializes in men’s skin care products, is calling this line the first “all natural skin care line for men.” Of course the definition of “all natural” still causes debate and controversy. So what do they mean by “all natural?” They claim the eight items in the line are free of parabens, sulfates, pthalates, petrochemicals, fragrances and synthetic dyes. As far as it being the first, I’m sure that could be debated as well. One thing is for sure though, it will be the only natural men’s skin care line at Sephora. Sephora noticed a hole in their men’s skin care products and decided that Zihr was the perfect fit. The line includes a cleanser, scrub, moisturizer, undereye cream, shaving cream and gel, a post-shave balm and an anti-aging night cream. Prices for the products vary from $20 to $48.

Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen DeGeneres

Well, if you’re an Ellen fan you’ve probably heard by now… Emmy award-winning talk show host, comedian and actress, Ellen DeGeneres, is the newest spokeswoman for Cover Girl. Ellen said when she was approached by Cover Girl she thought “they must be looking for actress Ellen Barkin.” On a serious note though, she sees this as an opportunity to “celebrate our individuality” in a time when Hollywood celebs are starting to look like clones.

Cover Girl is featuring Ellen in ads for their new collaborative product with Olay, Simply Ageless. The new foundation uses Cover Girl and Olay technology to stay above wrinkles rather than emphasizing them and causing a woman to look even older. Proctor and Gamble research has found that women are saying their makeup, especially their foundation makes them appear older. Simply Ageless addresses this problem directly with a solid emulsion technology that works with the skin’s temperature to transform to a liquid on contact.

I love Ellen DeGeneres and I think she’s hilarious and beautiful. I couldn’t believe that she was being used for an age based product though. Then I discovered she’s in her fifties! She looks amazing for her age.

Ellen showed some out-takes from the TV ad on her show, and they are hilarious of course. Check it out here.
